Fallout and Treasures of Montezuma are this week’s update to the 64-bit compatible library. Also of note, Fallout has been updated to version 1.1 fixing several bugs.

Y’know, that’s some really bizarre artwork for Fallout. I guess it’s a more accurate depiction of the main character, but Vault Boy and…that guy with the gas mask on the cover (I don’t know his name :P) are more iconic of the series.

I’m new to Gametap. Can you clarify this announcement? Are you indicating that you’ve tested the Fallout game, and found that running it on a 64-bit OS works without issue, or are you indicating that Gametap has somehow modified the executable, creating a 64-bit release of Fallout?

DON3K, Most of GameTap’s PC game library has been historically incompatible with 64-bit operating systems. We are currently re-encoded our existing catalog to be 64-bit compatible. These 2 games are this week’s addition that line-up.

DON3K, the folks at GT do not have access to the source code for the games. Running 99% of games on a 64-bit platform is accomplished by the WOW64 layer of Windows. Their former protection scheme was incompatible (Device driver) with Windows x64 and their new format is now compatible, but all of the encrypted images that house the games must be respun to let 64-bit players use them.

Gametap, if you guys want to actually get back in the game, you have to make it the original gametap. I mean you need to download it and not play games in your frekin browser. NO ONE WANTS THAT! Also you need to get with the now!! MAKE ALL GAMES 64 BIT COMPATIBLE!
