Ubisoft

I’ve got some exciting new for you this Monday morning! Today GameTap announced the renewal and expansion of it’s distribution partnership with Ubisoft Entertainment. As a result of this deal you guys will be getting over 50 new, kick-ass Ubisoft games such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 2, the Brother In Arms series, Call Of Juarez, Dark Messiah Of Might & Magic, Heroes Of M&M V, the Rayman series, and a number of games from the Tom Clancy franchise like, GRAW I & II, Rainbow 6 Vegas I & II, Splinter Cell Double Agent and Splinter Cell Conviction. Keep an eye out  for these games over the coming months, you’ll find updates in the coming soon list.

The GameTap Shop will also be getting a shot in the arm with this new agreement as we’re adding an even larger number of Ubisoft titles than mentioned above. As opposed to our subscription service these titles will be available for purchase and download. Prince Of Persia (2008) and Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. are already available in the shop.

Darn. Because I’m afraid I’m still going to have to buy the Splinter Cell games, it’s unlikely my PC will run them nicely. But a huge win for anyone whose computer cna support them.

This is very, very good news. I can’t wait until we start seeing these games on the actual coming soon list, I’m anxious to know exactly what we’re getting and when!

I just hope that this games will work with 64bit Vista/Windows 7.

Not having PC games to run on 64 bit Vista stinks!

That’s pretty nice news, but I rather doubt that I’ll wind up being able to play most of those, so I’m far more interested in news about the Infinity Engine titles that got removed.

this may be what pushes me over the edge into getting gametap again. being able to play all these ubi titles that ive passed on because of the DRM is mightily compelling, for at least a month’s worth of gametap…

My comment didn’t go through (I think I forgot to fill out the name field), so summary so I don’t have to type it all again:

Yay @ Rayman, Call of Juarez, Dark Messiah, Far Cry 2, and Conviction.

Boo @ getting the Brothers in Arms games after I pay for them on Steam >_> (at least it was on sale)

I’m more of a fan of the Indie games (just finished downloading The Path, and I’ve also just found Gravitron 2 on steam, which is a fun little flashback), but that’s a list of great titles. Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry 2 are definitely games every gamer should at least try, and I’ve never had the chance to try any of the Rayman series before, but have always been curious. I really enjoy GRAW 2 online, though I’m horrible at singleplayer. And the Vegas series of R6s have a great storyline, if you’re the sort of person who enjoys laughing at B-movies. And I’ve kind of been on the lookout for a cheap copy of Call of Juarez, but I guess I won’t have to look anymore :)

But I’ve always wondered — why is Splinter Cell a “Tom Clancy” game? It’s not based on one of his books or anything, is it? I mean, I know Ubisoft has bought the “Tom Clancy” name now, but they didn’t own it back when Splinter Cell first started…

WOO-HOO! We needed that “shot-in-the-arm”! Way to go GameTap!

I think Tom Clancy created the Splinter Cell universe, in a way. Like he advised on the tech it would use and the storyline style and such. Or he may have actually written the story. I dunno, it was something like that.

You know you have too many games when you aren’t excited for this deal as you have all those games already :P Man I need to stop buying games already lol! Although I am excited for the new Splinter Cell, hopefully it will mean Assassin’s Creed 2 as well!

Bravo Gametap! But heres where I speak freeminded…

Of course I’m loving the whole idea of Assassins Creed, Rayman(beastly :) ), and more Tom clancy games, cause lets face it Tom Clancy is a God, but come on Gametap you get this “kickass deal” but this time PLEASE hook us customers up with some multiplayer keycodes. Its sad everytime I play a tom clancy game that I dont have the right to play multiplayer to waste my free time. Lets face it.. Noone can play campain for hours nonstop. Multiplayer is a really needed thing for guys like me. Im impatient. And I also love the feeling of kicking multiple asses world-wide! So come on gametap, hook us up with the key codes. Single player doesnt last forever! lol

That is probably the best news I will hear all day! That is a killer line-up! I have to get my 32bit machine running again…unless they could get the 64bit support up and running soon =P
