Tomorrow GameTap will be releasing an update for our website and the GameTap plugin. This update installs automatically when you log in to the website, the upgrade page will look identical to install page you saw during the migration.

Update: The website was updated, the plugin update appears to have been pushed back.

Is there a changelog for this? a list of bugs fixed? Or is that coming tomorrow?

orly? because i’ve logged in on the next day and nothings happened

» arizionian213 said: Apr 9, 2009

I logged into the gametap website today. I read the blog about an update that was supposed to happen today. Nothing happened, I don’t think that I got it. Also, the website is not remembering me, I have to manually log in each time.

i logged into gametap today an update was supposed to happen but nothing happen when i logged in ! is there a delay !

» James Cornell said: Apr 10, 2009

There apparently was a delay, which is okay because the current plugin still functions. I look forward to the bug where clicking on a title which is in progress of downloading in the queue (But not actually downloading due to priority) ignores the stop download command. Also, there is an issue with priorities, where the page does not update the status correctly, and titles moving up or down the queue stack inexplicably overlap others or disappear from the queue list.

Relatively speaking, that is.

…and issues like this, and the non-functionality of the plugin compared to the old system, are exactly why I refuse to PAY WHILE BETA-TESTING this pile of crap. If they had it in a finished state before they inflicted it upon their paying consumers, that would have been one thing. Now they are just trying to patch in all the holes and sloppy designs because they’ve rushed this bad idea too far too fast and it’s getting out of their control.

They’ll fix it soon, honestly. And if you can believe that, then perhaps you’ll also believe that a company can competently beta test a piece of software and get people to pay for the ‘privilege’ of doing so for their corporate masters…

Works fine, I’ve been playing Supreme Commander with my European friend.

» Steve said: Apr 12, 2009

As of about right now I can’t even get the site to load…again. This so totally sukks!!!!!

» Customer said: Apr 12, 2009

Yeah, Steve, this is total bull. I don’t know why we’re expected to pay for this when we’re, as mentioned above, just beta-testing this for them. I would expect a refund for the months of April and March for annual subscribers, and even then, I’m likely to cancel.

I paid for a service that is not being rendered. Thus GameTap is, currently, in effect, stealing.

Still very frustrating and I hope that they bring this update and more out VERY soon , I have my main account which is not used and an account for my son which worked great before but now he has been reset to a free player and I cannot manage his account . this is a big problem as I don’t want him to have full access to everything on the site using my account which seems to be the only option that I have at the moment so he has been playing only free games since the release.

I can’t even post on the forum today to ask about this as even though I am logged in It says that I don’t have permission to do anything .

Which is why GameTap won’t get another cent from me until they can get their shit together.

O.K., whats the word on new game releases, I have been patient enough.
I have to say I have spent alot of time and money on steam, since this nightmare of a migration.I am just about ready to pull CC info…

well james, just cause your’s works fine doesn’t mean others work at all. this is the biggest scam i’ve seen in a while and gametap won’t b getting any more money from me ever!

» Timhen2 said: Apr 15, 2009

If I do not see an upadate tomorrow (post or the plug in), I will unsubscribe to Gametap until it is fixed!

» Goldenspiral said: Apr 16, 2009

Any news on the reinstatement of any of the missing or disabled features? Leaderboards, tournaments, full screen play, control configuration? Any news at all?

I agree with several other subscribers here, I do NOT agree with the policy that has been set forth that paying customers have to pay for a product that is not working and then adding insult to injury by making us Beta test the thing, at the least I would think that the decision will be made to re-imburse those subscribers who have had to endure the frustration of going from a working product to a product that is inferior.

All subscribers should be offered a extension of their subscription for the time that it takes to get the present product working properly along with a additonal time extension to compensate us for the frustration we had to endure because of a poor management decision.

Also I would like to see a stop put to Mods and Administration trying to defend a product that is obviously not working, we are the customers and we are not happy and it is good business sense to listen to what your paying customers are telling you rather than YOU telling US to be patient when it is WE that are paying, NOT YOU!!!

» areeve said: Apr 17, 2009

I was thinking the same thing… so long as I can’t play arcade favorites on my Media PC because of the full screen screw up they should add that time difference on to my subscription. That is… if they want to keep me as a customer. If they don’t care then they’ll show it by trying to pretend all is and has been well.

Mine didn’t work for a week and I had to leave a voicemail and nasty e-mails to get it fixed. It was set to free just as is the case with most of you. A 46 second recording did more to get it fixed than days of posting on the blog, forums and to the techs.

» Kontos said: Apr 17, 2009

With the state of the 4.0 release, can you imagine how bad the update would have to be to get them to delay it?

» Sarenthalanos said: May 2, 2009

I’ve given them due time, and it’s still not fixed, acceptable, while we’re expected to continue paying GameTap for their now crappier service.

Bait and switch scheme reported to FTC.
