Dear Genesis,
I know we haven’t spoken in awhile, I’m just writing to wish you a happy birthday. I can’t believe you’re 20 years old already! It feels like just yesterday I was bringing you home from Toys R’ Us in your smart black box and Sonic pack-in. If it wasn’t for you I’d have wasted so much time doing homework or learning to play an instrument instead of basking in the glow of your Blast Processing. Hell, I know you didn’t mean any harm by it, we were just a couple of kids proving to the world that you could do what nintendon’t. The future seemed so bright back then… back before the bad times. Speaking of which, it wasn’t really your fault you know, any young console could have gotten swept up in the glitz and glamor of being in the console spotlight, and it’s not like your parents were there to support you when you started experimenting with the add-ons and peripherals and online services; but you made it through those trials and tribulations and now not a week goes by I don’t hear about one of your games getting ported to the iPhone or Xbox Live. It’s been a great 20 years Genesis, and I hope the next 20 are just as good to you. And I…I mean… look, Genesis, what I’m trying to say here is… a boy never forgets his first ( game console) and I’m glad mine was with you… so… thanks. Thanks for games, thanks for memories, thanks for setting me on the course I’d pursue for the rest of my life, and while other consoles will come and go, we’ll always have Green Hill Zone.
Much love,
Lil’C
P.S. Give my regards to my the family and a kiss for DC (next month she hits the big one oh)

Sega always did what Nintendon’t.
You know, I got a Genesis in my room all hooked up, with like 15 games for it. I just regret losing Sonic 2, it looked so good on top of Sonic and Knuckles. It helps to have an old TV without those YWR slots [some call it A/V], so i had the Atari 2600, NES, SNES and now the Genesis at one point plugged into it. I think my TV thinks that it’s that girl on the virtual corner of Shame and Pain (I don’t know, for some reason I’m not funny today)
