As mentioned in recent posts the new version of GameTap will be launching without Save States, Custom Controls, or Playlists. Here are some key details and steps you can take make this transition easier. Hit the jump to continue reading.
Save States
- Your save states will be migrated to the new GameTap plug-in, but will not be usable at launch.
- You can transfer your save states to battery saves or file saves (built-in saves) in games that support this. This feature is most common in Genesis, and DOS games. Just load your save state then use the game’s built-in save.
- Your save games for Windows games will remain intact through the migration.
Playlists
- We will be sending out an e-mail to all users that contains your personal and subscribed playlists, complete with links to each game.
- All of your “Favorites” will be migrated to the new website.
- The new forum will have a playlist section for you to publicly post and discuss personal playlists.
Custom Controls
- Custom controls for Arcade, Console, and DOS games that are set before 3/16/09* will be migrated to the new plug-in. The controls displayed on the new game page will not reflect your custom settings.
- After 3/16/09* you will not be able edit your custom controls, other than resetting them to their defaults.
*System migration scheduled to start 12:01AM EST 3/16/09

That Whiteboard is not Angled. Therefore this blog post fails. Good news on the DOS and Genesis saves though, though not having that and customizable controls at launch is my one grievance on the update.
Please stop trying to get people to use your anemic forums.
No, we mean the new polycythemic forums.
@Penquin - Sure it is! See the angled drop shadow under the taped-up print out???
Are they finally gonna be phpBB or vBulletin? I run a phpBB board from one of those free forum sites for a club I’m in and it’s honestly better than whatever you guys are using. I’m sure whatever you’re paying for your current software could get you a much better board.

No more playlists. But we can discuss them? How can we discuss them if they aren’t there anymore?
@ Freyar
You can discuss the good old days.
@Penquin, The new forum will be PHPbb based
.
@Freyar, you can create playlists in the new forum section that will be dedicated to it, and by nature of the forums, comment on and discuss them.
Does this revamp have something to do with the “mount failed” errors I keep getting? I can’t get a straight answer on the boards, and plenty of other people are having this problem. No, it’s not AV software.
Pleroma,
The Mout failed errors are probably due to a server error fixed long ago. I’d reccommend resetting GT (though GT utils) and seeing if that fixes it, if not try redownloading the game. (That was the fix last time after the server upgrade was complete.)
The “server error fixed long ago” seems to be recurring fairly frequently for folks in the past week or so. I joined GT about eight days ago. I’ve reset GT several times and of course tried to redownload…but I still haven’t been able to fully DL *any* game over about 700kb. I’m starting to think this is something GT really needs to look into. Most “fixes” suggested by staff on the boards seem irrelevant–I really think that either Comcast is throttling your service or that it’s an unrecognized issue on your end. I dunno guys…$10 a month is far too much to play Root Beer Tapper…
Just make sure you get the popular features back eventually.

Comcast causes problems on my end too. Packetloss is common.
I didn’t even know we had save states.
