He chose poorly...

With GameTap’s 64-Bit compatible encryption update on the horizon, we need to start re-encrypting existing titles to take advantage of this new tech. So I’m asking you what games you’d like to see re-encrypted in the first batch. Keep in mind there are other advantages that even non-64-bit users will be able to take advantage of such mods, patches, and custom maps. Use the poll to place your vote, I’ve included some of our most popular titles to get things going but don’t be afraid to use that “other” option to write in a vote. There is no guarantee that your pick will be chosen for that first batch but we’re really looking at you guys for guidance in this. Hit the jump and make your choice.

I have to vote for Civ 4, since I was just debating rebooting into XP to load it up! Plus I’ve been wanting to try out mods for it, but they all require the expansion packs which I don’t own outside of GameTap :)

I imagine concentrating on the games that could most benefit from modding, like Civ 4 and the Unreal/UTs (to benefit both 32- and 64-bitters), and even Fallout 1/2 if the mod support is flexible enough to allow the high-resolution mods, and then followed by the top user-rated games would be a good approach.

Oh, and the games I’m working on finishing now — and not having to reboot to play them would help — are Titan Quest and Darkstar One, but I imagine I’ll have finished them by the time they get 64-bit support.

Bob: Civ IV mods go in the My Documents folder, and therefore do not require the game to have lighter encryption.

Myself, I chose Titan Quest as it’d be nice to be able ot play it with fan patches and such. the game was kind of buggy. Not majorly so, but still…
