It's A Series Of Tubes

Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries has earned its release date and will be appearing on 05.28.09. The only other movement this week is on Rise Of Nations and Hotel Giant 2, they have both come back from encoding and are now in testing. Hit the jump for the list of upcoming games.

Update: Apparently The Runaway: The Dream Of The Turtle snuck under my radar and is in testing already.

Encoding - Scientists deliver the new born game and it’s hauled off to the “Encryption Crypt” where dark priests practice their black arts and incantations, sealing the game’s contents with an ancient rune.

In Testing - The encrypted game is then sent to GameTap HQ via a series of tubes, where it is poked and molested behind closed doors by our friendly and diligent test monkeys.

Ready - The testers and publishers judge the game, always staring, always judging with their cold, uncaring eyes… and with their stamp of approval the game anxiously awaits its big debut.

Coming X.XX.XX - Mark your calendars, the date is set and our little bundle of joy is definitely on its way… err, we’re pretty sure it is, well it’s probably coming on that day.

Wow, Colonization! I’m looking forward to that.

So is it going to be down to just one new game a week from now on?

@Bk1knight: Are you sure you aren’t thinking of another game? I’m pretty sure Sins of a Solar Empire is a Stardock game, not Microsoft. And I’m not sure that many people would define it as “Next Gen”, though it is new…

Looking though wikipedia’s list of PC games from Microsoft Game Studios, the ones that I’d like to see added most are the Midtown Madnesses and Motocross Madness 2. Those were some fun games!

bob i went to microsoft games web site there it was on page 2 of there catalog at the bottom. I contacted microsoft games and asked because i saw that game listed as being released by stardock. they said that stardock is a sub contractor for microsoft games as well as other game companies. Next gen games have a game engine that is more advanced then that created for midtown madnesses and motocross maddness 2 are both really good games but rely on the last gen graphics and engine that was far less powerful.. I truly future gen game would be mass effect. that game uses a completely new engine that relies on the a completely different set of algothrims and new format of control. if games go the direction of mass effect soo you could be playing using holographic or even VR controls putting your self into the game as a player not just a charater. boy is this string long. Sorry. i have spent thousands of hours watching computer games evolve i believe that soon we will see something so new that is will shake the core of the gameing world just like the PS3 Xbox and Wii and even the Dual Core and quad Core processers have done for the industry.

Well, according to Stardock Entertainment, the developer of the game Ironclad Games and even Microsoft Games themselves, Stardock Entertainment is the publisher of Sins of a Solar Empire. In short, Microsoft likes making themselves sound bigger than they actually are.
